Director/Teacher: Alison Jantzie
Alison Jantzie moved to New York City after working extensively in the Canadian theatre industry. Shortly after taking this leap she became a Radio City Rockette, and has recently completed her seventh season dancing in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. In addition to dancing with this precision dance company, Alison continues to explore performance opportunities from musicals, to choreography and film.
Presently, Alison is thrilled to be appearing as a Swing in the North American Tour of the Broadway sensation Wicked. Some of Alison’s other favorite past theatrical experiences include the Swing/Dance Captain of Gigi on Broadway starring Vanessa Hudgens, Fiorello! at Encores! at City Centre, and Roman Holiday a new Broadway bound musical that presented at the Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco. Alison has played in many regional theaters in North America with highlights including: Ivy Smith in On The Town at The Marriott Theatre Chicago, Mitzi in Crazy For You and Martha Cox in High School Musical at Drayton Entertainment, and one season at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.
Her television credits range from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and The Today Show, to the My New York segment in taxi cabs throughout Manhattan. She has appeared in several commercials including Leon’s 75th anniversary commercial, and Staples Canada back to school campaign. Alison can also be seen in The L.A Complex pilot, and in season 5 of The Murdoch Mysteries.
Alison has had the privilege of working and training with some of the industry’s best choreographers including Linda Habermann, Josh Bergasse, Marc Kimelman, Stacey Tookey, Alex Sanshez, and more. She is represented by Lakey Wolff Talent Managers in New York City and is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association.
Alison is incredibly passionate about many aspects of the industry which include opportunities to educate. It is her hope that through thoughtful instruction, clear technical development, and story based choreography that students begin to understand the value of their uniqueness, and the importance of their voices as artists. Not only does her teaching style encourage and foster dance ability, but also develops the positive performance mindset that is imperative for success both in and out of the studio.
