Preparation

Shoes: Sneakers are fine! You can bring bring dance shoes if you have them (not tap). No sandals, boots, flip flops or high heels please. There may be work barefoot.

Master Class is for Students in 5th grade and up.

Biography:

Born in Queens, New York into a family of Puerto Rican Salsa dancers, Kebrina Josefina was gifted with the heartbeat, rhythms and appreciation of Salsa music, dance and culture. Ms. De Jesus has performed as an actor and professional dancer, with over two decades experience on stage in musicals, plays, independent films, and performances.

Kebrina completed her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications and Theatre at Millersville University. Upon receiving her undergraduate degree, Kebrina desired a new career path and moved to Dallas, Texas to study Yoga and classical dance technique, and to dance professionally. She began studies at Collin College, pursuing dance education in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Modern dance, Stage Movement, Improvisation and Dance Composition. Her professors in these disciplines include Shannon-Kearns Simmons, Gail Cronauer and the master teacher and Artistic Director of Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, Lesley Snelson-Figueroa. When not in school, Kebrina taught Yoga, Zumba and danced professionally with dance companies Samba Dallas, Tropico Entertainment, and Salsa Sunrise.

In 2009, Kebrina traveled with Samba Dallas throughout Brazil to train and perform in a variety of Brazilian dance techniques. Throughout her time with Samba Dallas, she also studied at Park Cities Dance Company with owner and Artistic Director Jacqueline Porter.

Inspiration led Kebrina forming her own company, Casa de Baile Traveling Studio. Casa de Baile’s services include dance instruction, performances, fundraisers and event planning.  Hoping to expand her knowledge and grow as a performer and teacher, Kebrina embarked on a chapter of discovery, and joined the MFA Theatre and Contemporary Performance program at Naropa University in Boulder.. After one year of intense graduate study, Kebrina decided to share her love of Brazilian dance and music with the Boulder and Denver community. She began to teach weekly Samba dance classes and perform at various events alongside Bateria Alegria of the Boulder Samba School. Kebrina also collaborates with Ginga, a Colorado based Samba band, to provide classes during live shows.

Take a journey through Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Brazil, studying dance technique, combinations, and improvisation styles from each region. No dance experience is necessary. Get ready to have fun and expand your mind and vocabulary of dance!
