Early Opportunities Build a Foundation for Success in Life

A guest post by Brian Olson, PAA Marketing Consultant.

2013_Holiday All through school and our professional lives we’re expected to perform. Maybe not on stage (Although wouldn’t that be cool!) but in just about everything we do.

Ever seen a great speaker at an event? You know, someone with poise, a person who commands the room. Chances are they got a chance early on to learn what it takes to succeed. Their success on stage comes from learning early on that it’s all about preparation, being ready and confident. Nerves? They got rid of that problem a long time ago!

Perhaps you were in a board meeting, and someone stood up with great ideas, purpose and focus. They were ready to make their point successfully. Maybe you wondered where that poise came from. Likely an early opportunity in life where they learned to practice, learn and grow.

Look at most successful people in life, regardless of what they do for a living and you’ll find that path to success started early in their lives. A time when they didn’t even know what “Nervous” meant! They learned early on about teamwork, preparation, learning their role and simply hard work.

Think of those early opportunities as a foundation for success all through life. It’s what we offer at St. Luke’s Performing Arts Academy. A chance to step up, to take a risk, to learn something new, to achieve and much more. It all builds confidence, and that’s an important part of a successful life.
