Highlands Ranch’s Performing Arts Academy is marking its 20th year with a 3,000-square-foot expansion, taking the nonprofit youth theatre to more than 13,000 square feet and seven studios at 5690 County Line Place.

With funding for the arts steadily dwindling in public schools, community theater programs are playing a bigger role in introducing children to music, drama and stage performance. The Performing Arts Academy, or PAA, in Highlands Ranch, has an even bigger mission.
