Interview with a teacher- Skyler Zurn
We’re continuing our seriesย in which we interview our teachers and staff to learn more about them and get their insights into the world of performance. This week’s interview is with Skyler Zurn, whoย has been a director for PAA. She most recently directed “Jungle Book KIDS” this past summer.
How long have you been working with PAA?
SZ: I have been working with PAA for over three years.
How many years have you been working in the performing arts?
SZ: I have been working in the performing arts for the past four years.
What is your performance background?
SZ: My performance background is mainly in acting and singing.
What is your favorite role or production youโve been involved in?
SZ: My favorite production Iโve been involved in was All Shook Up!
What is your top piece of advice for aspiring performers?
SZ: Be confident, it shows. Always be more prepared than the person next to you and talk to every person with kindness; you never know who may help you down the line.
What do you think makes PAA special or unique?
SZ: PAA is special because the children are surrounded by the most supportive and helpful peers and teachers anyone could wish for. Jenna and Jim really care about the childrenโs success and growth long term and do anything they can to improve the program year by year. PAA creates an environment in which the students can feel free to express themselves and grow to the best of their abilities while being endlessly encouraged. Students leave every summer with a new family and a new set of skills. PAA is a special place to spend your summer!
What is your most embarrassing performing arts moment?
SZ: My most embarrassing moment was fainting during the dress rehearsal of Oklahoma!
What is your favorite quote?
SZ: โLive through the fear and do it anywayโ and โAdventure is out there!โ

SZ: I canโt wait for another summer at PAA!
