Independent Toilet Policy

Independent Toilet Policy

Students must be toilet independent while in PAA programs. Pull-ups are not allowed. PAA has a trained staff that can give verbal cues to your child on follow through in the restroom while at the door of the restroom but do not enter the restroom with a child. PAA staff and faculty are able to assist children with buttons and zippers once outside the bathroom, and can work to teach them how to manage those on their own as well. PAA bathroom procedures are designed to ensure the safety and well-being of children while protecting both the child and adult staff or faculty member. When PAA staff or faculty supports bathroom breaks, the staff or faculty member remains outside the bathroom available to give verbal cues while at the door of the restroom. If assistance is needed, PAA adheres to a "Two-Person Rule," where at least 2 people would be present to support. If an accident occurs, a family member will be notified immediately. Children ages 3 through Kindergarten in PAA programs may bring a change clothes in a clear bag labeled with their name for any spills or accidents. Signs are posted outside the restrooms to reinforce restroom expectations.
