Live the story you want, even if it’s not the story you’re in.
Be among the very first in the nation to perform “Between the Lines JR” in the Performing Arts Academy’s exciting Pilot Production this summer! Having just recently closed off-Broadway, “Between the Lines JR” is an empowering and enchanting new musical for anyone who has ever sought to find their place in the world. An outsider in a new town and a new school, Delilah seeks comfort in the pages of her favorite book where she feels heard and understood by the handsome Prince Oliver. But as the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur in both extraordinary and astonishing ways. Delilah discovers how to find her place in the real world while keeping her dreams alive.
As a pilot program, we will be photographing and filming for MTI so that they can have our production photos for publicity purposes. You won’t want to miss being part of this exciting pilot process.
This camp is a two-week, full-day camp. Campers will need to bring a lunch, snack, and water bottle each day.
This is an action-packed and challenging week full of learning, fun, and friends! Students will study acting, music, and dance as part of the rehearsal process, which also includes technical elements such as lights, sound, set, costumes, props, and projections. Camps end with a fully-staged performance!
Audition Information
“Between the Lines JR” will be for 7th – 12th graders* and will be an auditioned show, which means that not everyone who enrolls and auditions will be cast. If a student isn’t placed in a role, they will be offered a place in a different PAA summer show or offered a full refund.
Auditions are on Saturday, April 20 from 9 am – 3 pm. Students should plan to be there the whole time, though they may be released early. Students should prepare 16 – 32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Please bring your sheet music with you, clearly marked and in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Students should also prepare a 1 minute comic monologue. Students will also have a dance call, so they should bring appropriate dance attire, as well. Again, not every child who auditions will be cast.
* Students must be 18 or younger on June 8, 2024 in order to be cast.
