Value of Confidence and Community
A post by Jenna Wilcox, PAA Artistic Director.
There are so many theatre arts programs out there right now. The market is flooded with new opportunities. With all the choices out there it can be hard to know what to choose. Which program will be the best option for my kid and family?
At PAA our emphasis has always been education first. From the start of each day to the end of every production we strive to teach. Each new note, step or fundamental learned for our students is a huge win for us. No matter where they are in their path, our goal is to take every student to the next step.
We do this through careful planning of curriculum and keen observation in the classroom. We seek teachable moments on stage and in rehearsal, applying every principle and allowing each student to find his or her “ah ha” moment. We know that every person learns in a different way and at a different pace. We welcome the differences among us.
Our differences open new opportunities for learning and understanding. Together we can experience community as it exists in the world and talk about how these differences strengthen the group and how in a real way, we can learn from each other. Together we can learn how to be the best version of ourselves. It is through community that we can reinforce confidence in the individual and make a lasting learning moment for all of us.
