I am Jenna Wilcox, your Artistic Director. I wanted a way to talk to you parents and kids on a regular basis so I had my super tech savy smartie Mr. Bret build me a blog. As a default I asked to have you on the list because I am going to talk about a lot of things that I think you might like to know. If you don’t want to get my blog posts in your email, simply unsubscribe. Otherwise, WELCOME! Lots of information will be coming soon about how to prep for this summer and what you need to know to survive an Intensive at PAA so keep posted!
What a winter it has been! The Performing Arts Academy has seen a few changes and some really exciting milestones. First, we were officially recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. That is tax code gobledy-gook as Non-Profit. This means we have our big kid pants on now and are an independent group! We have been hoping for this for over a year so when we got our beloved letter we hooped and hollered “HURRAY!” It also means that our security of being counted under the church is gone. We are responsible for our books and taxes and everything that grown-ups in the world do. It actually feels a little like leaving for college or moving out for the first time…ah, memories!
One of our big milestones was getting our new website up. What do you think? Do you like it? It is helpful? Please let me know. Your feedback means we can make it even better!
Another HUGE milestone is the wait list for Willy Wonka Kids! This year was the first time since PAA started that we actually filled a program to the brim…and boy are we brimming about it! We are thrilled to have so many new kids joining us this year and can’t wait to put on our first fully filled show.
Here is something I want you to consider: Do you feel like you are the best Actor you can be? When you are faced with a new script or new director, do you have the confidence to face the challenges ahead? If not, I would like to recommend our new program to you. It is called our Summer Acting Workshop. This one week, full day workshop is designed to meet you where you are. If you are a new Actor and you want to better understand how to get around on the stage or want to get really good at noting your blocking in your script, you will love it! If you are a veteran and want to delve deeper into the nuance of motivation, character development and scenes, you will be so glad you took this workshop. We are featuring some of our best directors and teachers to bring you the skills you need to advance to the next level. Come, join us! Get your chops up for your next school audition.
