Music is wonderful.  It stimulates our creativity, stirs emotions and brings color to our lives.  For kids, it is also a wonderful educational platform.  Music is mathematical.  Learning to count, read beats and notes all supports and grows a child’s math skills.  It is also great for fine motor development.  Learning to place fingers on keys and play a simple melody can be challenging at the start.  Working through the details of correct notes and correct timing can grow a student’s fine motor skills and establish a strong foundation for future learning.

Starting in a group keyboarding class is perfect for any young person.  Whether they themselves show a preference for music or not, these group classes allow for an easy, playful start at music.  In the classroom, our students learn how to hold their hands and place fingers on keys properly.  They play with volume and speed and learn early music theory principles.  They learn to play simple melodies quickly, giving them a strong sense of achievement and desire to learn more.  In these classes, they also learn if they would like to continue on to private piano lessons.  While not all do, many find that they have an interest to continue their music education and move on to private lessons as early as 6 years old.
